Franja Partisan Hospital (Slovene: Partizanska bolnica Franja) was a secret World War II hospital at Dolenji Novaki near Cerkno in western Slovenia. It was run by the Slovene Partisans from December 1943 until the end of the war as part of a broadly organized resistance movement against the Fascist and Nazi occupying forces. The wounded being treated there were soldiers from both the Allied Powers and the Axis Powers. Although the occupying Wehrmacht forces launched several attempts to find the hospital, it was never discovered. Today it exists as a museum. It has been protected as a cultural monument of national significance.

Partisan Hospital Franja

Franja Bojc Bojc Bidovec (26. November 1913 - 26. November 1985) was a slovene partisan doctor, which name was the main partisan doctor in the partisan hospital with the same name - Partisan hospital Franja. She studied medicine in Ljubljana and then continued here studies in Belgrade and Zagreb, where she became doctor in the year 1939. During 1941 and 1943 she was a doctor in the Slovene village Ribnica, where in the year 1943 she joined the partisan resistance. She was the main doctor in the partisan hospital Franja from 1944 up until 1945.
After the war she worked in the hospitals in Gorica, Trieste and Ljubljana. In the year 1953 she successfully accomplished a specialized medical degree and after 1963 she made a post-graduate degree from tubercolosis. In the year 1966 she was and assistance in the ginecology department in Belgrade and between 1967 and 1973 she was the main doctor in the ginecology department in Ljubljana. She died 1985 (on her birthday) in Ribnica.
