Current Goal

To travel all over this great country, sharing with everyone, just how great it is,to be an American!
Please feel free to add something to my keychain,or to my notebook.
Let's all take the time to show,or tell, how great it is to be AMERICANS!!!

I would like to return to my starting cache,"Yankee Doodle Ditti",in Deer Park,Newport News,Va.,by July 4,2006.I will then be presented to my owner's brother, who had a long career, and retired from the Navy. He is losing his sight, and being able to see all the patriotism that comes with me, before his sight is completely lost, will mean alot to him.

About This Item

I am the very symbol of America's pride and strength. I am being released during this election year.(2004)
As you hold me,think of all that we,as Americans, have been through, and still remained united and strong!
FEEL THE PRIDE!!!

American Pride journeyed with us to Arlington, SD in Aug and visited a couple of local caches. We took a few pictures of her journey. Interestingly enough, Arlington SD is named after Arlington VA. It was first named Nordland after the folks who settled the area (Scandinavians). Some thought the name to be to exclusive to other settlers. They contemplated Denver but thought it might be confused with Denver CO which was rapidly growing at the time. They settled on Arlington as they felt Arlington VA was far enough away to not cause confusion. Or so the story goes...a lesson in history for American Pride.

Anyone who brings this TB back to the Hampton Roads area, it can not be placed in it's original cache, "Yankee Doodle Ditti". The bridge leading to the cache has been damaged, making it impossible to reach the cache. If you could kindly place the TB in ANY regular cache in the Hampton Roads area, we can retrieve it, and it can FINALLY complete the mission it set out to do.
ANYONE who can possibly bring it to the IHOP on Mercury Blvd. in Hampton, Wed. thru Sun., 6am to 1pm, may hand it off to Mike (Ryder3, the TB owner), will receive a free meal of their choice, or a gift certificate for a free meal at a later date, as a BIG thanks for your trouble! There is also a cache in the parking lot you will be allowed to claim,"Another Flippin' Ditti". If you can't find Mike, the TB can be handed off to Joe (IHOP owner).
    Happy Caching!

I went back out and double checked this cache. This TB is definitely not there. Not sure if someone took it, or if maybe someone has it and hasn't logged it yet. Sorry, really wanted to take it back home tomorrow.

Our travels with American Pride are over and the name of this cache made it seem an appropriate layover spot for the TB. American Pride spent her South Dakota days in Arlington as they celebrated their 125th birthday. Like in many small towns, there are signs everywhere of American Pride. From the American Legion prominently located on Main Street, to the flags waving merrily from street poles, to the grain elevators which still hum with activity to the Veterans memorial as you enter town...pride is evident. On the side of the bowling alley a sign proclaims "As pioneers we planted them, as family we nurtured them as a community we watched them grow." A couple of us signed the TB's personal log. We added a pin from the former Defense Mapping Agency, a magnet of Mount Rushmore, a newspaper photo of the Veteran's Memorial in Arlington, SD and a newspaper photo of the Veteran's Memorial in Brooking's SD to commemorate American Pride's journey. We'll add pictures soon. Travel well!

This cache is located on the grounds of a Veteran's memorial which seemed to be a great site for American Pride to visit. We should have a couple pictures soon. We took an Enduring Freedom pin from the cache to add to American Pride's memorabilia. Retrieved her for the trip back to Virginia. Will add some additional memories and photos soon.
