AlleyCat fell quickly in
love, when Johnny, a young boy from the suburbs, purchased him from a pet
store in the big city mall. AlleyCat loved playing with Johnny; all day long
he was cuddled, petted and kissed; he even slept with Johnny every night.
But, as AlleyCat grew older, Johnny didn't like to play with him as much,
since AlleyCat was no longer a kitten.
Early one morning, Johnny grabbed AlleyCat and placed him in a cardboard
box. He traveled for what seemed like an hour before placing the box on the
ground. AlleyCat waited for a while and soon busted out of the box to find
he was in a dark, cold alley in the middle of the big city. AlleyCat tried
to find his way home, but couldn't; he was lost. He quickly learned how to
forage for scraps of food and to hunt for birds and mice.
It saddens us that many people buy puppies, but as the pup grows into
adulthood, their owners chain them to a doghouse in the backyard, or allow
them to run loose, paying little attention to them. The only time there's
any contact is when they give them food and water. There are also many
cat owners who allow their pets to roam free, placing them in harms
way.
Please see that your pets have their shots and are neutered/spayed. Love
them, exercise them, and spend quality time with them daily.
