Another wonderful design by Crake! This was part of a set of three "Rose" geocoins; the others were Autumn and earth. And each of them were actually two geocoins, each with the same ID#. One of the pair was meant to be sent out into the wild; the other was meant to be kept by the geocoin owner, as Proof of Ownership. The "Proof" coin has a magnet in the middle, which keeps the pair together until the other is released; after that, the "Proof" coin can be used as a refrigerator magnet or whatever. The idea came about because of the increase in the number of "geo-thieves", who would steal travelers, especially Jeeps and geocoins, to keep. It was hoped that doing double-coins like this would make it less likely for thieves to keep them, and the idea was used for a number of geocoins a decade ago, but the cost became prohibitive, and thievery never really stopped
