Current Goal

Take a picture of yourself with these medals and you become an honorary Captain in the Battle of Flowers. The Battle of the Flowers is held yearly in San Antonio, Texas.  It's part of a big party.to celebrate the victory at the Battle of San Jacinto. Do NOT keep the medals - I may need them later.  Just put them into another battle-worthy cache site.

About This Item

Flowers at the Alamo

The Battle of Flowers is a parade held each spring in San Antonio in memory of the fallen heroes at the Alamo and to commemorate the victory at the Battle of San Jacinto, April 21, 1836, where Texas gained independence from Mexico. Many years ago my mother-in-law was the president of the Battle of Flowers Parade committee, so they asked my wife to be an honorary judge for the parade. I got to judge as well. The first parades had an actual "flower battle" with half of the fresh-flower-covered carriages, floats and bicycles going in one direction and the other half going in the opposite direction, tossing fresh flowers at each other as they passed.  When you take a photo of yourself, brandish a flower menacingly.

Note: this is a recycled TB number.  The original TB went missing several years ago, and I thought I would just reuse the number with a new theme.

Retrieve It from a Cache 1/16/2005 DapperDan retrieved it from Shoulders New York   Visit Log

I had to keep blowing the snow off the GPS as the lake effect powder kept the GPS display covered. I had walked over the log once, done a complete circle and come back to it. I was there last year doing the orienteering course; I see there is a new marker this year.

Team DMCS pick up the Flightless Ferret just before dark from the "its not about the numbers" cache. We will help the ferret on its travels by placing it into a cache on Saturday January 15th, 2005. Thanks for the fun

TB was not logged as dropped in Andrea's Faerie Cache, where I picked it up today (Happy New Year!). Not sure how long it had been there, but will try to get it back on its quest for knowledge soon.

How many bananas in a bunch: A whole heck of a lot. More than most people can carry at one time!
How do you write on black paper? With my right hand, the same as I do on white paper.
