I just retrieved "Jos" from a cache near Munich, Germany.
I took two pictures of "Jos" together with a lava stone from the inactive volcano "Djebel Mara" in Darfur, Sudan. I do so in order to remind readers of the still ongoing catastrophic situation for the population in Darfur. They suffer from war and tribal conflicts, pushed by government and rebels. The situation does not allow them to do proper farming there, although Darfur is one of the most fertile areas in Sudan.
You might wonder how I got that stone. It is a souvenir from visiting my father there many years ago. He worked there in road construction. Sudan was ruled still by Numeri back then. I have very nice memories of the local, rural people there. And it's horrable for me to imagine how worse circumstances have become there now.
Please spread the word about Darfur. Thanks!
