* Jewel * A Gleaming TB

"Jewel" is part of the Scarab Beetle family and is known as a"Jewel Scarab"
or "Gleaming Beetle". Popular among collectors, these beetles are brightly metallic in color.
They are typically 15-35mm in length.
Nocturnal in habit, they will readily come to light.
They feed on foliage giving them another name of "Leaf Chafers".
There are 4 species in North America, ranging mostly from
the Southwestern United States south to Ecuador.
The biggest threat to scarabs is not the insect hobbyists, but loss of habitat.
"Ancient Egyptians" referred to them as a symbol of
Resurrection and the Enduring Human Soul.
