This Dinghy Shackle keyring is happy to travel anywhere. But as shackles are used on boats, this bug would love to visit places with a boating theme, and particularly places close to where sailing dinghies can be spotted.
Please take photos of its journey when you can, as a "postcard home".
This shackle is similar to the ones I used when I sailed dinghies in my teens. Shackles are used for connecting various parts of the rigging or other equipment together, by means of looping the U-shaped part though whatever items need to be connected, and locking it with the pin.
I spent many happy weekends sailing at Deep Hayes reservoir near Leek, (now partially drained, and turned into a nature reserve), and some time scrambling around trying to find lost shackle pins. And yes, some were accidentally dropped over the side of the dinghy into the water, never to be seen again!
