Current Goal

Armored Dillo is ready to provide mascott service to any soldier or group of soldiers in the Iraq or Afganistan regions. Hopefully taking pictures of this guy helping out can break some of the boredom and tension. If he makes it over there bring him back with you when you come. His tour expires along with his overseas friend.

Here is a new picture of Armored Dillo manning a 50 cal. machine gun at a check point outside of Ramadi and watching the Iraqi sun rise. He looks a bit tired after keeping watch all night, but he's on the job. If you look close, you can see that the bullets are almost as large as he is.

I just got 2 pictures of John with the Armored Dillo in Iraq. Not sure when they were taken (based on the date on the pics) but I know John had to wait until he was someplace where he could email the pics to his Mom and Dad.

This was taken at Ft. Stewart on 01/10/07 just outside company headquarters. Armored Dillo is pictured on Sgt. John Coburn's shoulder with a fellow tank commander Sgt. Mike Konvicka. Armored Dillo, John's newest recruit, will be serving in Ramadi, with the 3rd ID, 3/69th Armor. John promised to show him all the ropes, bring him home safely since it's Armored Dillo's first tour. They flew out of Hunter Army Air Field at @ 6:30 PM on the 10th and made a brief stop in Kuwait before they head to their forward operating base in Ramadi, Iraq.

Today I delivered the Armored Dillo to Fred and Mary, whose son John leaves this coming week (date undisclosed) for his third one-year tour of Iraq. Sgt. John is a Tank Commander so I'm sure the Armored Dillo will have many amazing experiences. John, Fred, and Mary will be sending pictures to me, which I'll post here for others to view. I'm sure John will be happy to receive encouraging thoughts and "hello's" too, so when I get his email address I'll post it as well. Here's a picture of Fred holding the Armored Dillo:

Found it while checking on the condition of our cache. The son of a friend is shipping out within 2 weeks so we retrieved it for him to take. He doesn't know what exact day he's leaving so if we can't get it to him before he leaves we'll deposit it in another cache. If he takes it, I'll post photos as he sends them.
