Current Goal

Karl-Oskar: Reunite with my wife Kristina and in the process of doing so:

Travel from cache to cache and find new friends and pick up stories from other emigrants with a connection to Sweden. So all you Johansson's and Eriksson's out there, tell us your story please!

And finally, when the times are better and I'm very homesick, I would like to go home. But until then, please let me stay in America!

Oh - and one more thing, we have had our share of bad things happening to us already, lets not add kidnapped by ruthless geocoin collector to that list. Please.

About This Item

Karl-Oskar and Kristina

Karl-Oskar and Kristina are married and tried to make a living in Sweden. However, the small size of their land, the infertile soil, and some bad harvests made it tough. Thus, they decided to emigrate to America, the promised land.

The journey was long and tedious and when they finally reached their new land they got separated. Their new life could have had a better start.

I am half Swedish. :)

My grandparents, Olaf and Emma (on my mothers side) came over around 1900 and settled in northern Michigan (Iron River). They had one daughter (Britta Maria) who when she was 20 moved to Chicago.

My mother married a Lithuainian and had 3 children all whom reside in a suburb just to the west, Oak Park.

I will take this TB to the Swedish community in Chicago, Andersonville.

Well, I am not Swedish however, my parents came to the US in 1970 from Slovakia. A year later I was born. I am the 1st person from my branch of the family tree. I might have some other family in Canada, but not sure. I have been back to the Slovkia twice, but much has changed. Sorry, I could not give you the story you wanted.
