I made one attempt at baseball in my life. It was a huge error. No pun intended. They stuck me in right field and hoped that I would stay out of trouble back there. I almost made it the whole season.
Then, near the end of the season, one of the biggest guys on the opposing team got up to bat. He had played ball in college. He hit that ball straight to me. And I went nuts. I put my mitt in the air, screaming that I had it and to the surprise of everyone I caught the ball....did you get that part???? I CAUGHT the ball!!!
I was so excited that I caught the ball that I danced with it! I held it up and I danced in circles and celebrated like no one has ever celebrated before!
And all the while the rest of my team is trying desperately to get the ball out of my hands and back into the infield where all the bases were being cleared of the players....as they bolted laughing for home plate!
And we laugh about it to this day....
And I never played again...
By the way, I was a 45 year old lady who had never played before and it was a "non competetive league", but who is kidding who, they loved us and we won the "best spirit" award at the end of the season. And I slapped hands with big ball players like I was as good at catching as they were! And we had a riot!
And I still throw like a girl, but who cares!
Nurse Nanna, and I will move this guy along to someone who knows what baseball really is...
