Famous Mathematicians #3: Sofia Kovalevskaya

Each semester my students complete a “History of Mathematics” project. Through these projects we have learned about some pretty interesting mathematicians. This coin is in honor of Sofia Kovalevskaya, whose nursery when she was 11 was papered with lecture notes on differential and integral analysis from which she learned calculus. This coin would like to travel to her native land of Russia and along the way visit caches that require you to solve a mathematical problem to find the cache whenever possible.
