Current Goal

Two fold : 1- travel to as many caches in the state of West Virginia as possible and 2 - travel to each county in the state. I will track the counties on the web site, but if you could mark the counties on the attached map as it travels I would appreciate it.

Original MISSION ACCOMPLISHED : AS OF JULY 2010 - thanks to everyone who helped this coin on its way.

Silver version of West Virginia Geocoin

I was born and raised in this state, graduated from Hurricane High School and Marshall University. I have lived all over this beautiful state, I'm currently in the Eastern Panhandle and have retired here. I would love it if you would post pictures or tell me about the area you found the coin in. We're going to give some history and geography lessons to our granddaughter based on this coin's travels. She has West Virginia history in the 5th Grade. We need to hurry, she is going to graduate the 5th Grade in 2011.

So a couple of weeks ago Knight Who Says Ni shot me an email and told me about this coin she had that wanted to visit all the WV Counties. Knowing that I am perpetually visiting all 55 counties in WV for my job and have a nasty habit of logging caches along the way she wanted me to swing by and pick it up from her for some 'visiting hours'. I foolishly forgot about it and was reminded last Friday about it so today after returning to Charleston for work I met her and picked up the coin.

As the owner of GC1QWJF - The West Virginia County Challenge and a proud completer of the GCT147 - The West Virginia Delorme Challenge I feel proud when I find this kind of effort made to teach kids about West Virginia. Too many of us are too complacent to care about anything outside of our hometowns and "the beach".

The coin sits on my desk currently, but get ready, it's goin' for a ride.
