About This Item

This traveler was released on our daughter, Danielle's fifth birthday to honor her most cherished possession. The real blanket was given to us before her birth and swaddled her for her trip home from the hospital. She really hasn't let go of it since. 'Bear Blankie', as she has always called it, has traveled with her from Alaska and the Yukon to Arizona and everywhere in between, via boats, planes, trains and automobiles. It is with her when she sleeps, eats, plays and even goes to preschool in her backpack. Danielle hasn't visited Hawaii, so she would at least like 'Bear Blankie' to go there. She is also just interested in watching it travel. She looks forward to seeing photos of 'Bear Blankie' on its journey. Thank you for helping her travel bug have a great adventure and providing good geography lesson material. If you have/had a cherished 'Bear Blankie' type item, please tell us your story.

Well I'm not going to Hawaii anytime soon but traveling I can give it. I'm taking Blankie back to the Music City, Nashville TN. It should double it's miles when I drop it.

I'm really sorry it took me so long to get this travel bug into another cache. Here's what happened. I live in Seattle, but I came down to college in Southern California. When I had visited the school before deciding to come here, I went geocaching on another campus less than a mile away. I figured I would bring a travel bug down and drop it off in that cache. However, when I got here, that cache had disappeared, and the nearest ones were at least five miles away. Not having any means of transportation, I decided that those were entirely unfeasible. Last weekend, though, I decided I should just go for it, and I visited five geocaches, disregarding the amount of walking it would take. The lesson of the day was that the distance listed on your GPS is roughly half the distance you'll actually walk. I ended up going 25 miles or so, but it was worth it. In any case, the bear blankie is back on the road, after spending a semester in my dorm room.

Sorry it took me so long to log this. Took the bear blankie from the Confluence cache. We'll try to find someplace just as beautiful to move it to.

I too had a blankie; actually it had become a small ragged piece of old flannel. When I was four years old, my family went to a drive-in theater. My parents got out of the car a couple of times to get snacks, etc., and it must have fallen out one of those times (at least this is their story, and they're still sticking to it.) When we got home it was missing. I started having a meltdown, but when my mother asked me to be a big girl about it, that was all it took. I was four after all; I didn't want anyone to think I was being a baby about it or anything! I must have really loved it, though, because 40+ years later, I still remember that night.
When I find a good spot, I will pass on the blankie bug.
