One of my favorite stores across Canada has its head office right here in Winnipeg. TruServ Canada, with a number of banner stores including True Value Hardware, found its roots in Canada and traces back to the founding of Macleods in western Canada.
Roland Macleod (not to be confused with the English actor who played in such shows as the 1965 “Monitor” or Pollyana (2003)) was born in Watrous, Saskatchewan (N51.674046,W105.470467) founded Macleods in 1917. It grew from a mail order business to one of retail. Over the years, through a commitment to having everything that a family needs on the farm, to servicing do-it-yourselfers, homemakers, and contractors, it grew to be a major retail force in western Canada offering product lines such as hardware, electrical, plumbing and paint.
Macleods, together with the Stedmans chain founded in eastern Canada in 1907, became officially known as Macleod-Stedman Inc. in 1964.
Now TruServ Canada supports a range of independent retailers across Canada. Some of my favorite places TruServ Canada is located in is places like Kimberly, BC (N49.692508,W115.983353) and probably the furthest east you could go being Badger's Quay, NL (N49.110905,W53.591824), although Cape Spear (N47.522765,W52.620049) is likely the furthest point. None the less wonderful landscapes and amazing scenery.
I would like to challenge this bug to make it to Cape Spear to geocache (GCWJZ3), but not before stopping off at Badger’s Quay. Should look at spending some time at (GCW7C9) Good luck little bug, I’ll be watching you.

Before I Send this TB on it's way I thought I would give it a tour. Seeing it's been around and not too many pictures I'll start off by taking a picture of the little bug looking towards St. Boniface from the side of Water Front Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba (N49.900536,W97.129751). Here there are many fun caches to look for including (GCY6VC). Being near Fort Gibraltar, a fort built at the Forks of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers in 1810. The fort was a North West Company fur trade post that also helped control the pemmican trade. The Festival du Voyageur incorporation rebuilt today’s Fort on the east side of the Red River in 1978. Near the fort is another geocache (GC1JQFH). Now when it comes to retail, the North West Company and Hudson Bay Company by far are the oldest in Canada. Founded in 1670 as The Governor and Company of Adventurers of England trading into Hudson's Bay the HBC is the oldest commercial corporation in North America and is one of the oldest in the world. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario it was once the de facto government in parts of North America before European-based colonies and nation states existed and were at one time the largest landowner in the world, with Rupert's Land being a large part of North America.

Found it and will send it on it's way over the next little while. Nice little bug. I'm thinking of sending it east, but we will have to wait and see.
