Well, I'm not from around here, I am originally from Louisiana, which is where I intend to take this spoon and hide next week. Today I am preparing to go to Memphis and I have a very untypical menu planned for tonight. In my icechest that I am bringing to Memphis to meet my family that I have yet to meet in 40 years I have Alaskan Halibut that my husband caught on his last Alaskan fishing trip, I have t bone and ribeye steaks for the non fish eaters. This beef was raised right across the street from my house here in Cookeville, TN. I also have ground beef to make hamburgers for the kids. I made a yellow cake with chocolate icing, baked potatoes and some corn. We are going to pick some coleslaw up along the way.

  • Grilling Pacific Northwest Oysters
  • Delicious Pacific Nortwest Oysters
  • Louisiana Gulf Shrimp Pre-BP Oil Spill
  • First you Make a Roux This is first step in making Louisiana Gumbo.
  • Roman Pizza This is my favorite pizza from Fluer De Lis, Baton Rouge, LA
  • Louisiana Oysters These oysters were salty and delicious and what we didn't know at the time they could have been an endangered species because of the recent BP Oil spill. Only time will tell if Louisiana oysters beds will come back after that disaster.
  • Hot boiled crawfish This is a favorite where I come from.
  • Bisquits and country white sausage gravy A favorite in the south for breakfast.
  • Hasbrowns and Grits Another U.S. Southern breakfast favorite
  • Poboy sandwhich This is a typical lunch in Louisiana. Shrimp poboy or Roast Beef with brown gravy poboy and a side of potato salad. Yum! Yum!
  • New Orleans Lucky Dog An American favorite, hotdogs!
  • Beignets and Cafe' Au Lait This was taken at the famous Cafe Du Monde which was established in 1862. The picture is of dark roasted coffee and chicory along with delicious beignets.
