Current Goal

I want to go anywhere! Then it's back to San Jose, California by the end of 2004...

About This Item

I have no specific goals. I just want to see the world now that I've been released from my cocoon. Any trip, large or small, near or far, is fine with me!

My owner is a three-year-old boy who is also an avid geocacher. Please share with him pictures of me having fun with other young geocachers, or share stories with me of your grand adventures! Please send me back to California by New Years, though.

If you take me home with you, just promise that you will put me in the next cache you find. Thanks!

Sterling, the Butterfly was found in beautiful spot overlooking the Pacific ocean. This was actually the perfect place to make Sterling feel right at home. Cobalt Blue is on the outskirts of the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary.

This is the premier Monarch site in southern California, with close to 100,000 Monarchs in good years.

My apologies to Sterling's family for holding on to Sterling for so long. I was worried that if I dropped him off near my current location (Las Vegas), he would go off on some wild tangent rather than heading home. Or lose all his money gambling or something.

I saw Sterling at this cache months ago and found him here again on my last visit. I decided it was time for Sterling to get moving again!

Sometimes it's hard to say goodbye. Sterling is a great insect and holds a special place in my heart. I'm the first to say I held onto Sterling for too long. We traveled many places together until we reached the best spot for his re-release back to the geocaching world. Good luck buddy. I'll never forget you.

Nice surprise finding Sterling today. This insect is still on it's way home and I'll do my best to help. I'll work on getting a picture posted too. Sterling came to work with me today and we just had lunch together. Ahh. Don't worry, I fed it some nectar. Have a Safe flight buddy!
