About This Item

Rigger- Ready for Adventure

The current stuffed mouse (technically a cat toy) is as yet unidentified.

Prior travelers have been a large Green Rat, the original Rigger, and a Kanagaroo Rat named Keona, Rigger's girlfriend. Both have gone MIA during their travels, and I have re-made the bug with a hand-made tag.  Rigger's name derives from a nautical term, and Keona was named by a prior finder. In addition to traveling around to fun and unique places, Rigger, Keona, and their others friends have a story to tell.

Many cachers may have played a game at summer camp where a leader begins a story, then points to another person who must pick up the story where the leader left off. The leader continually changes where s/he points, and each new person must pick up the story where the previous left off.

Rigger wants to play this game with a geocaching twist. When you log Rigger in, read through all the logs to see where the story left off. To make this easier, I am chronicling Rigger's story myself at this link: rigger.pdf. I'll do my best to update this whenever a new log is added, but please read the last few logs just to be sure. Then, when you place Rigger in a new cache, add your part to the story.

Rigger's Story should have action, adventure, comedy, drama, romance, and more. Be creative, but please also be family-friendly. Feel free to add new settings, new characters, new plot twists, and so on. However, try to keep to any plot threads that develop, and not send Rigger all over the universe at random. And let's say between approximately 20 and 100 words per entry.

So what will happen to Rigger next?

Now that we've sent Rigger on his way, we can help bring his tale a little more up to date 🙂

Having escaped the pirates, Rigger and his friends hid out on Oahu, moving around when the coast was clear (those rogues kept looking for their missing deck swabbers) and enjoying the sights. Aided by a few friendly Hawai'ians, Rigger was able to rendezvous with a man who said that he could help Rigger get back to the mainland. After greasing a palm or two with silver (well, zinc-clad copper 😉), Rigger soon found himself in California, the pirates far away.

At this point, one might think that Rigger's story would take a real positive turn, but, as bad luck would have it, poor Rigger got himself terribly lost in the urban jungles of Los Angeles. You see, many of the streets in The Big Orange are laid down over old foot, horse or stagecoach paths, so they wind around all over the place. And the freeways just make things even more confusing. Rigger wanted to visit Disneyland, but wound up in Culver City. So he decided to visit Hollywood and see the Walk of Fame, but he wound up in San Bernardino! And on it went. Rigger was about to give up, and thought that maybe he should head out to the Mojave Desert and find a pack of coyotes to roam with. But then...

Retrieve It from a Cache 12/21/2005 chaosmanor retrieved it from El Paso de Robles California   Visit Log

After more than a month of not being able to do any substantive caching, we took a trip up the coast to Paso Robles for a geodashpoint, and did a little caching while we were there. We dropped every T-Bug in our inventory into the geocache "El Paso de Robles", to give them all some fresh air and mileage, and now we are picking up all but the one we left in the cache. With any luck, we'll soon be able to start dropping off these Bugs in caches, if our work schedules improve a bit, now that the Holidays are behind us 🎱
