Current Goal

The Special Forces Operational Detachment-A, or A-Team, is the fundamental building block for all Special Forces Groups. There are six “A” detachments in each Special Forces company.

A captain leads the 12-man team. Second in command is a warrant officer. Two noncommissioned officers, or NCOs, trained in each of the five SF functional areas: weapons, engineer, medical, communications, and operations and intelligence comprise the remainder of the team. All team members are SF qualified and cross-trained in different skills, as well as being multi-lingual.

Stopped by "Mommy" to take this guy's picture at the cache. I think I dodged a bullet when I found the final in December. The poison ivy is pretty thick now, as well as the briars. I was wearing shorts, so I had to pick my way slowly and carefully to the cache. The mosquitos were eating me alive. I chose a different route out, and as I was standing in one spot trying to decide where my next step would be I realized i was standing on an ant hill. AAAHHHHH!!!!! I had to move a little faster than I was ready for and wound up getting ambushed by a sticker bush. Dang! I hate when that happens! Well, anyway, I got the picture and traded some swag. Now he can go home! Thanks for the adventure! DaveCool 😎

Retrieved while on a camping trip to Hanging Rock. Got busy hiking many miles in the park and ran short of time to take him to his "Mommy". I'll try to take him up for a quick dip soon. Another new state and a few miles while enroute to North Carolina. Even though he's second in command, I sensed a bit of nervousness as we are getting closer to NC. Perhaps some shock therapy might be in order.
