About This Item

EOD Badge w/ the bug

About the EOD Badge THE WREATH is symbolic of the achievements and laurels gained by minimizing accident potentials, through the ingenuity and devotion to duty of its members. It is in memory of the EOD personnel who have given their lives while performing EOD duties. THE BOMB was copied from the design of the World War II Bomb Disposal Badge, the bomb represents the historic and major objective of the EOD attack, the unexploded bomb. The three fins represent the major areas of nuclear, conventional, and chemical/biological warfare. THE LIGHTNING BOLTS symbolize the potential destructive power of the bomb and the courage and professionalism of EOD personnel in their endeavors to reduce hazards as well as to render explosive ordnance harmless. THE SHIELD represents the EOD mission which is to protect personnel and property in the immediate area from an inadvertent detonation of hazardous ordnance.

In 2009 this trackable was lost, and to never be found again or so i thought.   05/Apr/2016 This was discovered and actually mailed back to me.  What once started in Misawa Japan now travels with me to all my new geocaches that I go to.  H has had a long journey since starting out in 2006.  Almost 20 years out in the field.  I am not sure what the record is for longest lost TB, but I am so grateful this was found and back with me.  Never give up on your TB's.  You dont know who might have them or discover them.

Stopped in today to bring a TB Bombs Away, for a photo session. This is exactly the kind of cache it is looking for. Photos will follow once I get them off the camera. You MUST take a look at this cache page and the links that go with it. This High School has been in the news quite a lot because of their choice of mascot and symbol for the school, the Atomic Bomb. Too bad this cache is just a virtual, so the TB can't stay very long.
