Proud to place George in a cache named after himself! Went trigger happy with the camera as George RE-visited a spot down the road where he actually was during the turning point in the war and his career: McConkey's Ferry Inn. General Washington actually planned, ate, and wrote inside this Inn, and after the first battle of Trenton kept captured Hessian officers on the top floor for a couple of days. Fortunately some Revolutionary War re-enactors were there for photo-opps; though some were British, they fortunately did not recognize General Washington.

  • On the steps of McConkey's Inn General Washington revisiting a place he - the great man - actually was inside in December 1776!
  • Inside the Inn at Washington Crossing, PA George inside McConkey's Ferry Inn again after 231 years away, with a friendly local farmer (re-enactor).
  • Washington in Washington Crossing, PA
  • Washington visits McConkey's Ferrry Inn again! Inside, with a reproduction of a letter Washington wrote, with items from that time. General Washington was actually in this room in December 1776, Hessian officer prisoners kept upstairs for a few days after the critical big victory.
  • George dominates the location Perfect signage for this TB!
  • Watch out - redcoat! Fortunately the British (re-enactors) did not expect General Washington to be checking out the location, though since it is now named Washington Crossing they should have.

Took George home to Newtown, PA, where the real and great George stopped on his way back from the turnaround victory in Trenton. He not only took the captured Hessians through Newtown, but also here in Newtown (on Sycamore Street) wrote Congress of the important victory. Intend to take him to Washington Crossing PA or Washington Crossing NJ nearby. Thanks, I am a fan of the great and lucky General and President Washington.
