Current Goal

Great Copper is a very rare butterfly whose mission is to travel from wetland to wetland.

About This Item

Great Copper butterflies have not been seen in Oregon's Willamette Valley for more than 50 years. Last summer a local man observed and reported a small colony of about 15 of the small butterflies, thought to be extinct. The news has the Lepidopterist Society all atwitter.

I've been watching this and I'm pretty sure there were no other caches between Ohio and NC!
The previous cacher just forgot to log it 😉

Very happy to report this grab as it has been 'lost' since Christmas last year. It has somehow traveled from Ohio to the Outer Banks in NC, and I sure would love to hear where it's been in between these two caches. This was mom's first day of caching with me and look what she found! It was also fun to learn a little about the butterflies themselves. Will move this up north as soon as possible :D
