Current Goal

Horatio's a history hound. He's looking to visit places of historical interest. This need not be Gettysburg or the Liberty Bell (though those would be fine). Places of local significance are welcome - and encouraged. Perhaps you could take him to a locale that an out-of-towner might not be likely to discover on their own.

About This Item

Take Horatio with you to the site. Write up a log entry educating those watching Horatio about your historical site. Post a photo if you like. Perhaps you could even include a snapshot of Horatio on-site or a link to a relevant website.

Forgot to edit this log at the time of dropping off so doing it retrospecitvely now...

We placed Horation in the Pest Control cache because it's littered with history. The cache starts at some old stocks outside the village church. You then progress to one of only five remaining "Pest Houses" left in the UK. These are 17th century (the one in Odiham was built in 1625) places where you would have been sent if you were seriously ill e.g. with plague or the like, kind of early hospices. They were placed conveniently close to the church such that should you recover you need not go far to make your thanks, else you didn't have to go far for burrial! The cache location itself rests on top of an old beacon hill that was used to signal incoming enemies and is known to have been used to signal the incoming Spanish Armada.

Grabbed him from Capital Hill cache aka Winchester Hill. You'll be pleased to hear that he's looking well and seems in good condition. Will try and think of somewhere suitable to place him and perhaps get a piccy when we're there too.

Horatio didn't fit in this microcache - however as he had been with us throughout the series, thought we should log him into the final one to say "I've been there".
