Current Goal

Zex the travel bug and hitchiker pal, Beary, want to travel to the south for the winter - preferably knock around a little in Alabama and the south in general .... see the sights and stay out of the snow. Zex and Beary love to go to the zoo and have their pics taken. Eventually they want to return to Ohio but are in no big hurry.

I turned Zex and Beary loose today at the park today. They had a good time Saturday at Mt. Doom paintball field playing with a great bunch of guys. The pair also got to meet the Mt. Doom Beerwolf and I took a couple of photos for their scrapbook. It was appropriate that while I was locating the cache in the park I saw a big old wood chuck and since it was rainy he was out having a good ole time... we should now get an early spring! I think Zex and Beary brought me good luck. Good luck guys... may the force be with you!

  • Looks like the Beerwolf is about to eat poor Zex! Although the Beerwolf looks very hungry here, he and Zex became fast friends. Beerwolf want to be a hitchhiker too but surely someone will talk some sense into him.
  • Zex and players had a lot of fun together Many of the players wanted to know more about geocaching and I believe I may have a few converts here! Zex and Beary left Hanceville on Monday Feb.2nd 04... hope they make good time to their next adventure.

While Geocaching last weekend (Jan. 4th) we picked up Zex and Beary from Bug Rest Stop (I-65). They were begging for some outtings in Alabama so we offered them a ride. First stop was the local Cracker Barrel where Beary made some friends with the local CB Bears... a photo is attached. The pair will be in another couple of photos coming soon before continuing their travels about the state. We won't be going to the Zoo in Birmingham till spring so we will turn these guys loose before then so they can continue their travels. Till then they are enjoying playing paintball and are being great emissaries for the Geocaching society. They got the full attention of several of the Cracker Barrel workers and customers waiting to be seated when this photo was taken and all were highly excited and interested when they heard about Geocaching.

Visited Tyler's Zoo Cache, and discovered Zex. When I learned this little critter was from Ohio, I felt he was an instant friend. I am from Toledo!! So I will take Zex to the Houston Zoo, then send him on his way.
