Hengist wants to ride his steed across this magnificent land, learning the history of the places he passes, and finally to return to England, his adopted homeland, to visit once again his kingdom of Kent and then to travel to the headland that bears his name, Hengistbury Head in Dorset.
UPDATE: Great news! After travelling through the USA and visiting South Africa, Hengist has reached his Kingdom of Kent. Now he yearns to travel throughout Britain and finally to reach Hengistbury Head, Dorset.
Hengist (whose name means "stallion"), together with his brother Horsa (meaning "horse"), were Jutes who were invited to England in 449 by King Vortigern to help the Britons defend themselves against the Picts and the Scots to the north. About 455 they rebelled against Vortigern and Horsa was killed in a battle at Aegelsthrep(possibly Aylesford, Kent). Hengist became King of Kent and ruled till his death in 488.
Hengistbury Head, near Bournemouth, Dorset, was the premier port for the import of Italian wines around 100 BC, and maybe the first truly urban settlement. It declined during Roman times and returned to a wilderness at the end of the Roman occupation in 450 AD. For the Hengistbury team (who now reside in Oregon, USA), Hengistbury Head was the place of their youth.

Hengist was well and truely in his kingdom, so I guess now he wants to head home for Dorset, so I'll help him on his way, though he might have to fight a couple of Welsh Dragons on the way.

Sorry we didn't get to move him on his travels this week. The caches we did were too small or had been 'muggled' so we didn't want to risk him. We took some pics and will move him on soon.
