****New Mission****November 3, 2008
After starting there journey together, the sisters are now resting many miles apart. Their new mission is to be reunited in Atlanta, Georgia for a new race...the race to cure breast cancer. The 2009 Atlanta 3-Day, a 60-mile walk benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, will take place October 23-25. Thousands of women and men will walk in this event, and the twins would like to join them. Please take pictures along the home!
My brother and I decided to have a TB race in honor of the birth of my first child (his first niece) this fall ('08). The sandals have until the end of the day that the baby is born to log as many miles as they can. The winner of the race will receive a complete cache kit, ready to launch, from the loser. After that, the mission may change, or the race may be extended.
While I technically own both, the left shoe is running for my brother, the right for me.
Please avoid events for this TB until after the race is over...rather, keep us moving!!
****Update*****Thanks to all who participated in our little race. The race closed as of midnight last night b/c the newest geocacher was born at 5:58 am on August 27! Kathryn Sophia weighed in at 8 lbs 5.5 oz and a respectable 18.5 inches long. We are all a bit tired and hungry, but otherwise imaginably happy!! A special thanks to croow and Ms. Froggy for a putting on a stunning 1200+ miles clinic to lead the Right sandal to come from behind victory. Kudos for such a great performance!!
***Update*** In an attempt to keep the baby's weight below 10 pounds, we have sceduled an induction for Wednesday, Aug 27th. With luck, we will have a beautiful baby girl by mid-week. The sandals mission will be changing after Wednesday, but there's still time to log some miles! Thanks for participating in our adventure!
