This is 1 of 4 Aviation Key Chain Travel Bugs that I have placed in the wild in honor of my son. My son was a wonderful son, brother, husband and pilot. He was killed in a plane crash on 13 May 2004. He knew at a very young age that he wanted to be a pilot and was able to fulfill his dream, even though it took his life.
These key chains are non-functional facsimiles of aviation instruments, each with a different function but all with the same purpose; that of getting the pilot, crew and passengers safely to their destination.
- The “Fly High” (Altimeter key chain) has lofty goals like my son had. It wants to be in high places.
- The “Fly Straight” (Heading Indicator key chain) knows where it wants to go and doesn’t want to take too many detours, just like my son knew what he wanted in life and didn’t let the unimportant things get in his way.
- The “Fly True” (Attitude Indicator key chain) reminds me of my son’s life, straight and true to his God, his wife, and his family.
- The “Fly Fast” (Airspeed Indicator key chain) does not want to sit in a cache, or a drawer, or a pocket too long. It wants to keep moving, keep experiencing all that it can for as long as it can. Life, as my son and I found out, can be suddenly cut short.

A tragic story... sorry to hear about it. Let's make sure his memory lives on! I will not get to any terribly high places in the near future but will at least try to get it out of the Leipzig lowland area.
