sight seeing near Oslo

In 2009 our family had a Norsk exchange student living with us here in NY for a year. Now this reisevenner would like to travel around Norge and see the sights, until we can get there ourselves to visit and 'cache' it.. Please help it on it's journey, and take it to a new cache at interesting places and sights in Norge. Please don't take me out of Norge. Tussen Takk!

After some days of sightseeing in Oslo, The American Tourist has been checked in at Oslo's best luxury TB hotel, overlooking Holmenkollen ski jump. Will add photos this afternoon!

  • Holmenkollen kapell This is a popular chapel, right next to Holmenkollen ski jump. The original was opened in 1913, but burnt down in 1992. A copy of the old chapel was ready in 1996.
  • Holmenkollen kapell Holmenkollen chapel at a distance. The triangular thing between the chapel and the geocoin is the top of the 90 meters ski jump, Midtstuen.

  • View from the road by Holmenkollen ski jump You should see the view from the top of the ski jump itself... Unfortunately, no time to climb up there today.
  • Kollentrollet Kollentrollet is sitting right opposite of the ski jump, overlooking everything that goes on in the hill.
  • Kollentrollet plaque "The Kollen Troll sat down here Sunday 10th of March, 2002 - with good help from Nils Aas, J. M. Stenersens Forlag AS, and Selmer Skanska AS. The Kollen Troll is a gift for the county of Oslo, (...)" Sorry, the rest is not legible.

Despite grey weather, we did this very nice multi cache by Dælivann and Kolsåstoppen, just outside Oslo. The view from the final location is magnificent! From there we could see most of the trail that we had followed leading up there. Nice place for a sporty tourist!
