Retrieve It from a Cache 5/14/2011 JeePSer retrieved it from Honey Creek Resort Cachin' and Splashin' Iowa   Visit Log

(3549) THANK YOU HILL FOLK. We had a wonderful weekend. After the photo we followed the Elves to the Kayak cache and just missed out on two FTF's along the way - oh well. We walked the kids caches in the rain glad to finally have a chance to use the Jeep stroller rain cover. Lil' JeePSr was so excited when we opened up a container of goodies and had a great time selecting which prize she wanted. We also found the permanent and temp caches surrounding the hotel and then we headed in for lunch.

After lunch the skies cleared up and the pavement was starting to dry out. Lil' JeePSr went for a nap and JeePS(him) went caching with the Elves. It turned out being a great day for caching, much better than the 90 degree weather we had last weekend. After nap we all got together again and finished up the caches on the North side of the lake. We spent some time at the play ground before heading back for dinner and what turned into an unofficial event around the fireplace. JeePS(her) and Mrs. Elf played a few rounds of Wii bowling before the movie came out and then we amused ourselves seeing if we could get Mrs. Hill Folk intoxicated 🙂 We enjoyed the caching, the splashing and the company.

Hopefully next year the showers will be at least warm, it seems there was probably a lot of water wasted waiting on showers to heat up - I know we ran ours for a good 15 minutes before giving up on it.

Thanks again for a fantastic event - looking forward to Wapello!!!

(3548) We'd left work early to make sure we were at the resort in plenty of time to enjoy the water park before heading to the event. We had a bite to eat in the restaurant in the company of cachers from Missouri and Minnesota as well as our geo-parents. After dinner the party moved to the bar and we enjoyed catching up with familiar friends and meeting a few new ones and of course trading pathtags. Lil' JeePSr had a blast but headed off to the room with JeePS(her) a little after 8 leaving JeePS(him) to stay and have fun. Great event, thanks for making it official this year ... see you in the morning.

(3504) What a great turnout. We watch all of AbbeyAckbar's caches and so have seen all these names pop up over and over again on logs. It was great to finally put some faces to the names of Irish cachers.

Thanks to Abbey for arranging the night on short notice and a big thanks to everyone who came out. Niall I hope your exams went well despite us keeping you out and away from study. BlueJay, it was great to meet you after emailing back and forth, sorry you missed your other planned event for the night. I loved the puzzle cache conversations and it was an added bonus to be able to trade for a couple of pathtags - who'd've thunk it at an Irish event! We handed out a pathtag to everyone who came and I've been please to see them getting logged. I wish we had time to visit the traveling GA cache, it would have been fun to put a few more miles on it.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the great conversation - see you all next time, hopefully with a little more notice. If you're ever in Iowa look us up.

(2348) We dropped Lil' JeePSr off with her aunt this morning so that we could cache our way to and attend this event. It was a good day for us with 13 finds 🙂 and ❔ DNFs. We enjoyed the event and wow what a great turn out you had. We enjoyed the food - can you believe this is the first time either of us has been to a pizza ranch? and we enjoyed the company. It was great to see cachers from all over the State and beyond here today. Thanks for arranging the meet and greet Brett. It was lovely chatting with you today. I picked up quite the haul of TBs and coins at the event as well as two new pathtags. We missed the JackPineSavage flyer, so I will be sending an email to find out about that. We hung around long enough for the photo and door prizes and then we had to get on the road so that we could pick Lil' JeePSr up by 4.

(2253) JeePS(him) had just gotten home from Detroit. He left the airport, stopped by the house to pick myself and Lil' JeePSr up and off we went to the event. We didn't have a gift to participate in the exchange, but we enjoyed looking at all of the creativity as the gifts were passed around. It was a nice location for an event and I am glad that the weather wasn't too bad so that there was a nice turn out to what was probably the last event of 2010. I wandered about and traded a few pathtags. We were shocked and delighted when Lil' JeePSr was given an AWESOME gift from cjandbjjones. They even dropped it off at the house after the event was done and she has been playing with it ever since - make sure you check out the photos!

(2250) I [JeePS(him)] was in the area for work this week. Before I left home I decided to have a look and see if there were going to be any events in the area during my visit. Lucky for me I came to town at the right time for this event. I got the chance to see some old friends that live, cache and trade pathtags in the area. Before saying hello I decided to order some dinner. As I waited for my soup and sandwich I happened to look over and see my picture on a computer screen. So much for sneaking in unnoticed. No sooner did I set down then the pathtags started flying. So between eating dinner, trading tag and swapping stories I was able to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones. Thank you one and all for the hospitality. Always good to come back home to Michigan even if it is the wrong side of the state.

(2206) Last year we were unable to make this event as Lil' JeePSr was under the weather. This year she stayed with Aunty T while we headed over for a day of caching. We had a wonderful time. It was great to see a lot of friends that we saw just a couple of weeks ago at Wapello and the Ice Cream in the Boonies events. It was also nice to be able to mix and mingle with cachers we don't meet as often with the help of the Bingo game. There were a couple of very popular cachers in the room who gave out their autographs more that a few times. It was wonderful that J.S.K. were able to make it to the event and we thank them for sharing their story with everyone. A great reminder on what the important things in life are. Lil' JeePSr got some extra hugs and kisses when we got home tonight. Thank you to everyone who donated a prize and to every one who bought tickets, what a great turn out and showing of support within our geocaching family! Isn't it great that so many people who rarely meet on the trails and mostly know each other from on line logs and a meet and greet every month or so can care so much for each other. This is why we love this community. A special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Digger9 and all of their family and other helpers who made today's event possible. It ran without a hitch and there was plenty of food - even for those last in line. It is always a pleasure seeing you when you frequently travel to events around Iowa so it was nice to see your neck of the woods for once. Sorry we couldn't hang around a little longer afterwards. Maybe you should think about having an April Fools event so we have an excuse to come out again in 6 months rather than 12?

(2188) We dropped Lil' JeePSr off at Aunty T's house this morning around 7:30 - we'd planned on dropping her earlier but best laid plans and all that!!! Again we hit the road for the event it was 7:45 but we weren't too worried as Mr. Elf had reminded us on Thursday night that we didn't need to be there right at 8:30am We arrived at ground zero around 9:30 and a quick scan of the sign in sheet told us that we'd beaten the Elves (a personal goal after some smack talk earlier in the morning) We said our hellos and grabbed a logging sheet, we were just about to head out when lagrac came up with a completed sheet - Mr. Digger83 wouldn't let us cheat however, so off we went on our tour of the town. This was a great idea and a fun way to spend the morning and BONUS, we found out when we got back that there was going to be a logger cache for logging the temps, we weren't expecting that and really appreciate it considering that we know you don't log temps yourself. Thanks for a great start to a great day. Oh and while we didn't get a great hand and certainly not a winning hand, it was good enough to beats the Elve's even worse poker hand and in the end that's all that really mattered.
