Toby the Tortoise is no ordinary Travel Bug. He is a strong competitor in the 1st Annual Travel Bug Cannonball Run race from New York to California. Everyone knows the Tortoise always wins, right? Remember the story...the Tortoise may not have been fast, but he never stopped for a moment. Please keep him moving, always west, state by state.
Slow but steady wins the race!
Toby is in a race that begins on March 8th 2003 in New York. He is racing over 30 other travel bugs to the Pheromone Cache in California. Please follow these race rules when moving Toby along. Toby the Tortoise cannot "jump" over states (like in an airplane). This means that when he moves out of a geocache in one state, he can only move to a geocache in an adjoining state (states must share a physical or lake border). Toby must also physically be placed in a cache in each state he visits. Finally, please place Toby in easily accessible and heavily visited caches to assure his chances to keep moving along toward California.
UPDATE: Toby has met a cute friend also in the race named Tilly Tortoise. Please try to keep them together as they race towards California!
Their kids, Timmy and Tammy got a late start in the race and are trying to catch up to mom and dad. Please help them locate their parents if you happen to see them in a cache near you.

Picked up Toby for the final lap of the Cannonball Run Travel Bug race. Toby and Tilly had some difficult times once Tilly met the tortoise Kiabab Karl at the Grand Canyon, but they worked out their differences. They have decided to walk to the race finish line hand in hand.

Kiabab Karl is now traveling with the Migration sans TB tag, which just burns Toby's shorts. Tilly's lust for Karl is a very sore spot, but Toby is trying to win her back for the sake of the children? There have been a few confrontations.
