About This Item

Hudson Hiker

The original Hudson Hiker was released in February 2003 at Palisades, Lower Hudson Valley and it wanted to hike up the river to Adirondacks. After not much success it stranded to Pennsylvania and was taken by a geocacher who stopped playing the game shortly after that. The second incarnation of HH was released in June 2005 near Pilsen, Czech Republic and its goal was hiking European long-distance trails.
Then the original TB reappeared - I don't care about the destination anymore, just hiking the long distance trails and taking photos with trail signs is fine.

It's a hot day today but I found this little guy in a cool spot, in more ways than one.

Tried to move him up along the Hudson today, but turns out the cache we went to was water logged and had a leaking battery inside with mold to boot. We've been having a good time while I replaced my broken gps so I felt I should not let him sleep in such a dank place.

We had fun anyway today with some pics

  • Trip to the Tree Ring Lab at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory along 9W We stopped by for a lecture at the Columbia University's Lamont Doherty Earth Observator located off Rt 9W before heading off to the cache. He took a liking to the Tree Ring Lab.
  • An obscured view of the Hudson River Along the way to his new destination, he posed for a picture with the river in the backdrop. Unfortunately, river is hard to see in the pic.
  • Hudson decided to stay dry around the wet cache At his new home, Hudson disliked the moldy wet bed so much so that he followed the model of the bubble boy and refused to come out of his plastic refuge. And so, he came back home with me. Maybe next time...

Found this little guy enjoying the scenery along the Hudson. High time for adventure along the Palisades! I promise not to eat him. Instead, he can enjoy watching the geese and ducks in the pond until we head out.
