Current Goal

To visit records of Mankinds trip to the stars, eventually stopping off as near as it can to the ESA - The European Space Agency - hopefully in time for the landing of "Mars Express" (with the Beagle 2 probe) on Mars, 23rd December 2003.

About This Item

Kite

NEW GOAL (07-Sep-03)

After meeting Tom Schmid, and having experienced flying (sort of) I think we can safely say that this little bug has met most of its primary goals - except appearing on TV or film, but what they hey.

Now it wants to get to some real stars, or at least as close as it can. It's new goal is to get to NASA, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and any other physical record of humankinds race for the stars!

In the words of the greatest astronaut that ever lived (or didn't), Let's see what she's got... thattaway!

Old Goal...

Fly me to the moon,
And let me sit amongst the stars...

Yes, those aren't the right words, I know. But that's what this little bug wants to do - sit amongst the stars.

Hollywood Stars!

This TB wants to travel all the way from quaint Hampshire, England, to America, and Ultimately to Hollywood. The climax of its trip would be to land in the hands of famous soles - preferably famous Geocachers, such as Wil Wheaton - or to be a prop in a Television programme or film.

And although this little bug can't really fly to the moon, it really can fly! It's a pocket kite... please take a photo of yourself flying the bug in a location of your choice!

Heading to Altanta next week. With winter coming in the great white north, I thought this little guy might want a place where he can still fly.

Picked this up from Vapor Trail. Nice day to be out - trees are starting to show some color. Someday there should be a geocache that is not on the Earth - so this TB can still dream.

Being into kites, I had great plans for the time this little kite was going to be with me. But you know what they say about best laid plans...🤕

Wind and time at the same opportunity has been a challenge. I wanted to fly this little kite with my kite aerial photography workhorse and capture them both in one shot from above. Today, was a marginal opportunity but I thought I'd give it one last try in the clearing near one of our caches.

April 12, 1956 was the first time a tree eats Charlie Brown's kite. Today, I had a whole forest of trees looking to eat the big brother of this little kite. Upon retrieval of my kite from the canopy of the woods, I decided I would drop this bug off to keep it moving along.

 • Can you see the forest for the kite? Line color was enhanced to show where it got stuck.
 • A closer shot Yep, I got it down! Been there, done that!
 • In flight Looks better in the sky than in the trees.
