This geocoin is one of several to be the First Geocoin in Space. The coin was abord the Space Shuttle Atlantis on mission STS-122 and orbited the earth 202 times at an altitude of 122 NM (226 km), traveling more than 5.3 million miles. Atlantis, and the coin, was launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on February 7th 2008 at 1945 UTC. The mission lasted for 12 days, 18 hours, 21 minutes and 50 seconds. Landing was on Shuttle Landing Facility at February 20th at 1407 UTC.
This geocoin will stay with the owner and the goal must be to once again travel more than 5.3 million miles.
