Visited 4/12/2024 Waterbaron took it to The Pit and The Pendulum Georgia - 94.45 miles  Visit Log

Came down to look at some equipment at the Kingsland WWTP and had time for a couple of caches in this nice park.

I quickly spotted the pit but until I looked on the ground, I didn't see the pendulum.

I returned it to a location that fit the hint.

Visited 4/11/2024 Waterbaron took it to "We'll leave the light on for you!" Georgia - 4.44 miles  Visit Log

Had to come back for this one and this time I parked at the closest parking spot.

Bright idea, but I managed to drop the log and the tiny swag I'd planned to leave disappeared.

Visited 4/10/2024 Waterbaron took it to Who is this comic book villain? Georgia - 4.29 miles  Visit Log

After finishing a project in Yemassee and another on Hilton Head, I had to come over to Savannah for a parts-run and still had time for a Geocache or two.

Six miles yesterday and another three today were more than enough so I only did one of the two. I'll take a rain-day tomorrow to finish my taxes and recuperate.

Can't answer the question. I gave up comic books in Junior High when the entire inventory of my booming business was confiscated by the principal just a month after he confiscated my inventory of penny candy. (This may be the reason I've always distrusted arbitrary authority and in real life, sell my skills and knowledge rather than items that can be stolen from me. I'd been ploughing my profits back into inventory, so after the second confiscation, I was decapitalized.)

Visited 4/9/2024 Waterbaron took it to Brosnan Clan's First Geo Cache Georgia - 1,116.1 miles  Visit Log

I noticed this one a decade ago but never seemed to have the time to attempt the almost 6-mile round trip walk from the parking area to the cache and back. Besides, the last "DNF - Needs Maintenance" log from an experienced cacher wasn't encouraging, but today I had the time, the weather was fair and the worst I could do was log a DNF and "Archive" log if the trek was impossible.

From the satellite view, the bridge and trail had been washed out some time back on the final approach and would have to be done on the riverbank. The tide was outgoing, nearing a spring low, so I had some hope of making it to the island with dry feet. Besides, although the last finds had been using watercraft, I've lived on the coast most of my life and can distinguish firm sand from pluff mud from afar.

About a quarter mile from the final, the rail bed was badly washed out and finally disappeared so I walked down to the riverbank and was pleasantly surprised that it was relatively firm sand with occasional patches of oysters. Even the stretch past the missing bridge was firm with only a trickle of water. (I attempted to return to the trail just beyond the remains of observation deck, but decided it would be easier to stay on the riverbank until close to the island.)

Once I was about 150' from the final, I crossed the marsh onto the island and was blown away by the really cool and funky area. The decor indicated that recent visitors were not worried about drug tests. (I had done a cache out here about 20 years ago when it was still easily accessible and was surprised that the trash cans and picnic tables were still there, despite many storms in the interim.)

Lots of potential hiding places, but since it was listed as a "LARGE" container, I thought I was looking for a 5-gallon bucket, so it took me a while to spot a standard ammo box. All of the swag was in good condition and the log was pristine.

On the way back, I stayed on the riverbank for about a half mile and returned to the trail when the marsh started to widen and look muddy.

If you're looking for a fun challenge, this one's for you!

Visited 4/5/2024 Waterbaron took it to Tree's Grave Georgia - 14.11 miles  Visit Log

I was returning to my Hilton Head office from looking at some equipment near Macon and really wanted a brisket sandwich from Buc-ee's so I took the long way back. (Besides, Google maps showed really nasty traffic jams on I-95 which I hoped would be clearer when I got there.)

Given the location, I thought this would be a perfect place to leave my Palm Sunday palm leaf cross pin I'd left in my truck.

In retrospect, I should have worn it when I flew out of Savannah Palm Sunday afternoon for a project in Michigan. It may have led me into an interesting conversation and perhaps an opportunity to do onsite missionary work.

My wife is a retired librarian and as a rule, does not like this concept since so many of them are neglected and subject to occasional objectionable materials. Having done several Geocaches is similar locations, my wife's view covers the majority. Someone put one in our neighborhood, then moved out and now I'm doing the maintenance because a nice neighbor has a special needs relative who loves to visit it every day.

This one was especially well maintained with a large selection of books that someone might actually want to read. Kudos!

I left an historic 1943 steel cent for a future cacher.

Visited 3/28/2024 Waterbaron took it to Blueberries or Bacon? Georgia - 782.19 miles  Visit Log

Every time I do work in this area, I feel that I'm in the "breakfast center" of Georgia.

Going from Douglas back east, I cross the border of Coffee and Bacon and when I get to Alma, they are promising me blueberries for my cereal.

Kinda boggy crossing the drainage, but it had recently rained and I wear water-resistant boots, so no big deal.

Visited 3/26/2024 Waterbaron took it to MiGO 20th Anniversary-Yodypody Michigan - 817.8 miles  Visit Log

The weather was lousy when I got to this exit but at least it wasn't raining, just windy.

The container was where the winter elements might have hidden it and although it is likely that the snow has passed, I returned the container to a level that if the snow reached it, a doughty cacher could reach it.

Visited 3/15/2024 Waterbaron took it to Hole in the Big Oak Georgia - 1,155.45 miles  Visit Log

From reading previous logs, it sure looks like someone in the neighborhood wants to get rid of this cache.

Even though it was recently replaced by another catcher, only the cap was there today.

Visited 3/14/2024 Waterbaron took it to I-35 South Bound Rest Area (Forest Lake) Minnesota - 59.82 miles  Visit Log

It's always nice to find a cache by a Charter Member, but it bothers me when they haven't been active for a while.

Container has certainly outgrown it's size classification.
