Current Goal

Bentley Brit is an English Bulldog. He would like to reach Barbury Castle in England. Barbury Castle is an Iron Age Hill Fort above Swindon.

About This Item

Bentley

The Bulldog has its origins going back over 700 years in England. The Bulldog came to the United States in the early 1600's and 1700's when American Colonists imported these outstanding guard and companion dogs to protect their farms and livestock. Colonists prized these dogs for their utility, being as rough as the Frontier they conquered. It is because of this history, that Bentley currently resides in the United States today.

Being of a historical sort, Bentley would like to return to his homeland in order to visit the areas where his ancestors once roamed. He would like for his ultimate destination to be Barbury Castle in England.

Barbury castle was built by the Celts in the 6th century as a safe place to live and keep away from warring tribes. When under attack the people living nearby would bring their animals and livestock and take shelter in the 11 arce enclosure . The inner bank used to have a continuous wooden fence running round it to protect the people inside and also gave cover while the defenders threw spears at their attackers. Also the outer bank was reinforced with huge Sarsen Stones which can still be seen today. Barbury castle offers some great views north of the Marlborough Downs towards Swindon and can be a good spot to watch the sunrise early in the morning as the mist clears. Due to the protective nature of the Bulldog, Bentley would love to be the official guard dog of Barbury Castle.

Brentley Brit wanted to sniff out a Trail Dog Geocache before heading to the Savannah Travel Bug Depot where he hopes to get a ride overseas.

I found Bentley pining away in a lonely geocache without any animate companionship. I'll try to drop him off somewhere there are other critters and if he's really lucky, I'll find a Traildog Geocache (by Penny & Chaos) for him.

I found old Bently Britt barking to get out of that jug at Peachtree. I couldn't believe how happy he was, running around chasing squirrels and peeing on trees. Maybe I can get him to the coast to get on a ship for England. Or maybe one of my English friends is going home for the holidays.
