To become world travelers
Horace and Celia Smith are another in the series of travel bugs dedicated to spirit of the pioneers who traveled the Oregon Trail (1836-1869) into the great unknown wilderness “The West”. These specific characters may be fictional but they do accurately represent the diversity of the settlers that were part of that great migration. Please log your find at and keep these TB’s moving.
Enticed by the discovery of gold in California, Horace and Celia loaded the inventory of their mercantile onto wagons and headed for the 1849 gold fields via the Oregon Trail. Upon their arrival they immediately realized that supplying the miners was much more profitable than digging for gold. Over the years they expanded their hardware stores throughout the west but never took time to enjoy the fruits of their labors. Their spirits are restless and now want to travel the world and see all the things that they missed.
