Our world is a world of pleasure. It is what we mainly seek as human beings. But as far as we have existed through the age, it has not made us happier. When you will find this necklace, wear it or keep it with you as long as it needs to. But when you will leave it at the next place, give up a pleasure you've been using as a way to make you happier. Not by forcing yourself but by understanding that this pleasure has never taken you anywhere and has never made you happier in your life, except for a few minutes.
This necklace traveled with me from New Orleans to Texas, through Mexico, back in the US, accompanied me during my whole trip in the West, through a dozen National Parks, until Michigan where I finished my journey. This journey in North America (I am Swiss) has been the most inspiring and unique experience in my life. I have changed in many ways and understood many things. I gave up smoking, drinking, eating meat, eating too much, junk food. I have never been as happy as today. I did not force these decisions at all. I just understood that these pleasures would not take me where I wanted to be, to what I wanted to discover. Call it happiness, truth or God. I put aside all the things that would distract me from my real inquiry. And these pleasures are what I am talking about.
This necklace was found during a parade of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It is a symbol of our world of pleasure and sensations. The false happiness, the one that does not last.
