About This Item

TANNER'S TRAVEL "BEAR"

Our oldest grandson Tanner has always loved bugs. We bought a little toy bug cage, tweezers, and magnifying glass for him to use when he would go catch bugs in our big back yard. The first time he used his new bug catching tools I helped him by showing him what to do and how to put the bugs in the bug cage. He then went and collected some “bugs” by himself. When he came back to show me his collection of bugs he had a cage full of small “dead” ants. Not wanting to discourage him I asked him to show me how he caught all those ants. We walked over to the brick path and he showed me the little ants running all around the bricks. He took out his play tweezers and as an ant came across the bricks he “squashed” the ant with the tweezers and then picked up the “now dead” ant and put it in the cage! I patted him on the back and said “that works.”

TANNER'S TRAVEL "BEE" WAS LOST ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO.    TANNER WANTED TO TRY A TB AGAIN SO WE CHANGED THIS TRAVEL BUG TO TANNER'S TRAVEL "BEAR" AND SENDING IT OUT AGAIN IN JULY 2013 AND HOPE IT LAST LONGER THIS TIME.

This TB is long gone. Time to retire it. Went by scrabblemania yesterday and it is not there. Looks like it has been missing for almost a year- sorry!

Was excited to make this find. First TB in many months. Been caching in town, and finding a lot of micros, so this was a nice change of pace. (:

I enjoyed the story of this travel bug! I too went through a bug-collecting phase when I was a youngster. I think the first manifestations of it were due to a fascination with tent caterpillars. I had noticed that of every hundred orange ones I found, there would be one blue one. I would frequently come home from school with my pockets full of my blue "prizes," to the utter horror of my mom who didn't like the creepy-crawly critters.
