Current Goal

Travel from cache to cache and eventually to Leander, (Republic of) Texas then on to the Alamo in San Antonio where it needs to have it's picture taken in front of the Alamo gates. Upon mission completion, return to owner. Pictures with cachers using the TB to open beer bottles would be cool too.

About This Item

LaRue Armadillo

This is a cool bottle opener that was sent to me while I was in the middle east. It is shaped like an armadillo and is good for opening all kinds of things (even difficult cache containers!). I'd like to see this guy travel to his home in Texas and pay homage to the Alamo and Davy Crockett, stopping by his home town along the way. The company who made him are also great for making awesome tactical equipment. They really are good folks and do a great job of supporting the US fighting man.

Well, it appears that the Armed Armadillo completed his mission! I'd like to thank those who helped him along on his way, especially ms_Nicky, Normantrigirl9, and aholmes748. Special credit is afforded to aholmes748 for actually being responsible for taking the TB to the Alamo. This is the first of my many TBs that I released into circulation back in Germany. Many are still stuck in Europe, but this one came back to me and eventually made the jump across the Atlantic to continue on his way to San Antonio. I think that the notion of so many people helping something so insignificant as a TB accomplish a mission says a lot about the general positive nature of geocachers.

I'm not sure what the future holds for this bug. I may want it back or i may allow it to continue on it's way, perhaps with another mission.

Again, thanks to my fellow geocachers who were responsible and caring enough to help me life vicariously through this little armadillo.

Sincerely,

David

Today AA finally arrived at the Alamo and historic downtown San Antonio. The pictures speak for themselves. Had a great time introducing my sons to the geocaching community.

I'm excited to say that Armed Armadillo has officially begun the final leg of his journey to the Alamo. Yesterday I picked up AA from a cache in Los Colinas, Tx (Dallas). I travel to San Antonio once a month to visit my kids. I'll be headed down again mid March.

Got him to Dallas. Used him to open a few bottles for some pre-superbowl celebration. Really good bottle opener. Kinda wish I could've kept him but knew he had to be sent on his way. Good luck buddy!

Thought this Armadillo needed to get away from "Where the Pets Go", and then found out he needed to get to Texas. Have a business trip to OKC next week will move him along in that direction.
