Current Goal

I am very lucky to have two very good friends, Badgerbaby and Wibsey Wench. They bought me this lovely coin for my birthday in 2014. The coin is too nice to send out into the big bad world, so they created a laminated replica proxy.

Please take it on your travels and maybe it could meet an actual Arabian Horse and have its photo taken.

Am v sad that a cacher that retrieved the coin in 2017 neither put it in a new cache, nor did they reply to my messages. I therefore grabbed in back in Jan 2018, bought an appropriate keyring and made a copy tag so it could continue its adventure.

If you pick up this TB, please follow the geocaching etiquette and log that you have retrieved it. Take it on your travels, then when you are ready, put it in a nice cache, and log that you have. Thanks and happy caching.

Horses Around The World Geocoins

These are a series of trackable geocoins featuring different horses breeds from around the world.

Each coin features a portrait of the breed in imitation hard enamel with an intricate border inspired by the culture of it's traditional breeders.

This coin represents the Arabian, or Arab horse that originated on the Arabian Peninsula. With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world. It is also one of the oldest breeds, with archaeological evidence of horses in the Middle East that resemble modern Arabians dating back 4,500 years. Throughout history, Arabian horses have spread around the world by both war and trade, used to improve other breeds by adding speed, refinement, endurance, and strong bone. Today, Arabian bloodlines are found in almost every modern breed of riding horse.

The Arabian developed in a desert climate and was prized by the nomadic Bedouin people, often being brought inside the family tent for shelter and protection from theft. Selective breeding for traits including an ability to form a cooperative relationship with humans created a horse breed that is good-natured, quick to learn, and willing to please. The Arabian also developed the high spirit and alertness needed in a horse used for raiding and war. This combination of willingness and sensitivity requires modern Arabian horse owners to handle their horses with competence and respect.

The Arabian is a versatile breed. Arabians dominate the discipline of endurance riding, and compete today in many other fields of equestrian activity. They are one of the top ten most popular horse breeds in the world. They are now found worldwide, including the United States and Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, continental Europe, South America (especially Brazil), and its land of origin, the Middle East.

The whole series of coins is united by a common 2D back design showing a map of the world.
