Dufus the Dawg

"Dufus", the Happy-Go-Lucky Dawg Extraordinaire, is on a mission to visit Europe. Having packed his bags and bones, Dufus ventured forth from New York and landed in Cobham, England.

"Gawrsh!", said Dufus. "I, ah, gotta see dah world..!"

Dufus's story starts out in the back alleys of New York's Financial District. Happy to spend his days as the official Christmas Mascot of the Wall Street stockbrokers by day, Dufus bunks down with his other fellow vagabond dawgs  near the World Trade Center at night. Sadly, after September 11, Dufus finds himself homeless and boneless. As hope turns to despair, fire hydrants lose their appeal and his daily ritual of leaving homemade 'land-mines' in Central Park's jogging paths no longer complement his days. 

One fine day, Dufus, who by this time was weak and hungry and on his last paws, rescues Madame Fifi, a prized Chinese ShihTzu Penthouse Pet of 2002 belonging to Bianca Castafiore, the richest lady in New York. Trapped for weeks under the rubble of the former World Trade Center, Dufus pulls her free. Immediately, Dufus is an instant celebrity. 

Parks are opened in his honour. The City of New York present him with his own Fire Hydrant ... Pet Food makers seek out his endorsements ... and so on...
