Current Goal

I am sending this coin out to the wild to celebrate Tod. Tod was a geocacher and he was killed on his motorcycle. Please don't keep this coin, place it in another cache for others to enjoy. If you have a story about Tod please put it in your log. Thank you.

About This Item

I didn't know Tod but have heard a lot about him through geocaching. I contacted Rockin Roddy because Tod was part of Cachestalkers, which was Tod, Rockin Roddy and Kaboom and he helped me out.

Tod was a father of 3, a girl 21, a son 19 and a son 6. He lived in Manitou Beach Michigan with his mother who had health problems. Tod had health problems the last few years that prevented him from working full time but he didn't let that stop him. He worked as much as he could.

Tod was an avid hunter and he was very good at it. He could walk into the woods and be back in 5 minutes with his tag full. He liked fishing and fished a lot at Devil's Lake. Tod and Roddy used to mountain bike together. They have ridden the Pottowattamie Trail in Brighton MI (fabled to be among the top 10 in the nation) as well as thousands of miles logged in several nearby parks (some of which didn't allow biking except for them).

Tod was deathly afraid of heights but was a roofer for much of his like! Roddy climbed a mountain on a trip to Vegas and when he got back home he roped some of his friends into doing it to. Roddy and Tod went back to Vegas and climbed Bridge Mountain, which was a technical climb of a 4 out of 5 which is the hardest you can o without ropes. They rested one day then tackled Mt. Wilson. Roddy almost fell off a cliff but Tod grabbed his jacket and pulled him back. Last year they climbed Turtlehead Mountain in Vegas.

Roddy also said, "Tod was my courage, he could talk me into doing what I wasn't sure of. Off-roading in my Jeep..."sure you can make it down that washout" he'd say! Drift busting in the winter..."sure the Jeep can go through that 5' high x 50' long drift (and it did). Riding mountain bikes..."sure we can make another loop on the trail". Tod had wisdom beyond any book, he had the wisdom of experience!'

Help celebrate Tod's life by keeping this coin going from cache to cache.
