Current Goal

I am the Guam Seal. You can find out more about me in the description. I have a simple, yet difficult mission. I would very much like to go to my homeland of Guam. I do want to see as many places as I can to share my history with many different people. However, Guam is where I would most like to go.

About This Item

Image hosting by PhotobucketImage hosting by Photobucket Approved 9 February 1948. The basic design of the flag was approved on 4 July 1917, and in 1948 a narrow red border was added. The blue stands for the Pacific Ocean. The seal is in the shape of a sling-shot used by the ancient Chamorros for hunting and warfare. It is a symbol of the protection and endurance of the home government. The seal depicts a typical landscape in Guam, seen from the mouth of the Agana River. The lonely coconut palm tree escaped being uprooted during the destructive typhoon of 1918 and therefore it symbolizes perseverance, courage, strength and usefulness (coconut is the main crop of the island). In the distance in 'Two Lovers' Point' which represents faithfulness to a good cause. According to legend, two lovers preferred to kill themselves by jumping from the Point rather than be forced to marry someone they did not love. The outrigger canoe recalls the fame of the native people, the Chamorros, for their nautical skills. It stands for bravery and skill in making the best of one's environment

This was a very special find as my geo-hubby was born and raised all his life on Guam. WOW! You can imagine when we pulled this out and he said "that is from Guam". Super cool! We might know of someone headed back there...so we will ask around since the goal is to return there. Or maybe we can place it in a TB hotel near an airport. Wondering if the owner of the TB has ever been to Guam. We have been to Two Lovers Leap. what a special TB for us to find. Thanks!

We picked this up today, because although we are not going to Guam, we are going to Cannon Beach Oregon tomorrow and thought we would help it on it's way. There are lots of extra people there this weekend because of the annual Hood to Coast Run-so you never know who might be there and able to help out this quest.

I have been fortunate to vist Guam twice for about a month each trip. It was an incredible time both trips/ I was there for work, but was able to take advantage of the hospitality of locals both time. It was fun to be invited to a wedding reception by the hotel manager.

No plans to head there any time soon, but I will move the TB quickly.
