Not really close to the sea but on the banks of the Murray River, Australia's biggest and best known inland waterway. Home throughout our history to a range of paddle steamers, barges, etc., plying their trade between the ports and wharves of the inland cities along its banks. It is now travelled mainly by waterskiers, canoists, anglers and houseboats, not to mention a few remaining paddlesteamers associated primarily with the tourist trade.
