Current Goal

To travel to all states that have a Gordon Biersch Restaurant. And hopefully to collect pictures of happy cachers at those establishments

About This Item

A match made in beer heaven. Come back with us for a moment to 1987. Dan Gordon is one of the most sought-after brewers in the country. Dean Biersch, an experienced restaurateur and beer lover, is searching for a partner to help open a brewery restaurant. A mutual friend arranges a meeting. They sit down. Have a few beers. And the rest, as they say, is beer history. It's the American Dream: Get married. Buy a house. Open a brewery. From the get-go, Dan and Dean had a clear vision of what they wanted. A monument to beer. A place where beer lovers could come drink freshly brewed beer and have a great meal as well. As far as the beer went, they would serve only authentic German-style lagers in the tradition of the ones Dan brewed while attending Weihenstephan-the most renowned brewing school in the world. They would brew with only the finest ingredients. Hallertauer hops. Two row barley. And a special yeast strain imported directly from Germany. They'd brew it fresh and serve it cold. And what do you know, it worked. Together Dan and Dean opened the first Gordon Biersch brewery restaurant in Palo Alto in 1988. Since then, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurants have opened across the United States, with a recent opening of a Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan. Gordon Biersch serves authentic German style beers. The Gordon Biersch menu consists of appetizers and entrees influenced by a variety of cuisines, all designed to complement Dan's signature lager beer. In 1997 Gordon Biersch opened a state of the art brewery and bottling facility in San Jose, CA. This brewery allows Dan Gordon to brew his signature beers for sale all over the United States. We offer tours of our brewery based on appointment. Please email us at email@gordonbiersch.com to set one up.

Picked up this TB, will move it along in the next week or so. Since we have no Gordon Biersch restaurants in Oregon, we'll move it hopefully where someone will pick it up and take it to a state that does. At least where I plan to put it, there are some great breweries - so it will feel more at home.

There is not a Gordon Biersch here, but since Oregon is in the top 5 states with the most microbreweries per capita, I thought it would still be a good place for this Travel Bug to stop. Perhaps on it's way to Seattle where it can find another Gordon Biersch!

Yummy, I like the goal of this TB and will happily find another Gordon Biersch city to drop this near.
