Dougal's Profile
Dougal is a dog, half Foxhound and half... Well we're not entirely sure about the other half.
Although whenever I've asked Dougal, he declares he has royal ancestry being half Foxhound and
half Corgi.
Dougal has been living quietly in St. Abbs for a couple of years; he spent a lot
of time surrounded by books, so thinks himself well read. He likes to chase and heard sheep
(maybe his father was actually a common Border Collie). He also likes to chase foxes, which
I am sure he would maul badly if he ever managed to catch one.
Travel Plans
A couple of weeks ago Dougal started to express a desire to explore the world. He said that
while he enjoyed life in St. Abbs he found it a little quiet. So Dougal and I discussed
all the possible places he could travel to.
"I'd like to get as far away as possible", said Dougal.
"You can't get much further away than New Zealand", said I.
"New Zealand, where is that", asked Dougal.
"It's right under your feet", I told him.
"Ok, but what does New Zealand offer a dog like me", asked Dougal.
So I told him all about bungee jumping, kiwifruit and sheep. Dougal's little ears pricked
up when he heard that New Zealand has over 40 million sheep and they out number people
eleven to one. As Dougal likes to chase sheep, he has decided that he wants to go to New
Zealand and chase the sheep there. He would also like the opportunity to chase sheep in
other countries too.
Travel Goals
Dougal would like to travel the world with the ultimate goal of reaching New Zealand.
While travelling Dougal would like to meet and be pictured with animals which he can chase
or heard.
Dougal doesn't care for postmen, so please don't send him through the mail; there
is always the danger he may break loose from the parcel and bite an unlucky postal
worker.
I am going to miss Dougal, so would like to hear from everyone who meets him on the road.
If you do meet Dougal please give him a cuddle and a clap every now and then.
