First weekend back in the Bay Area for almost two months now as I have been on sabbatical and traveling. Decided to visit an old friend and take a walk around the upper part of Grant SP this morning. A little under 9.5 miles on the Canada de Playa>Halls Valley>Los Huescos trails.

There was SAR training going on at the park, so I got to chat with several groups of guys in bright orange outfits along the way. A little unnerving at first when a couple big Suburban's came rolling up Halls Valley trail, the lead one being a Santa Clara County Sheriff. Orange outfits had me wondering if they were escapees or prisoners on a work detail. :)

I town for a couple days visiting family in Mesa and Maracopa. I lived in AJ in the 60's and 70s. The mountain was, literally, our backyard as we lived on Prospector, about a mile south of Mining Camp. The property was right up against the wilderness fence. Used to climb all over this place with my dad, family and buddies. Always nice to come back now and then for a walk around here. Good memories on the trails. Did the Treasure Loop up and around Green Rock today. Started before dawn, so had the place to myself until the downward walk.
