About This Item

Me

I am Auyantepuy I became a geocacher after doing The Ghost Orchid (GC112JY), I said to myself if geocaching could take me to these great places then this is the kind of activity for me.

My caching name (Auyantepuy, Auyan-Tepui or Aiyan-tepui), which in the language of the native Pemon people means "Devil's Mountain", is the most visited and famous tepui (table-top mountain) in Venezuela. It is one of the largest (but not the highest) tepuis with an area of 700 km² in the Guayana Highlands and is located in the Gran Sabana region in Bolivar State.

Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world, drops from a cleft near the summit. The falls are 979 meters (3,212 ft) high, with an uninterrupted descent of 807 meters (2,648 ft). Angel Falls is more than 19 times higher than Niagara Falls. Auyantepui achieved international fame in 1933 when Angel Falls was accidentally discovered by Jimmie Angel, a bush pilot who was on a trip in search of gold ore. During a return trip in 1937, Angel crashed his small plane Flamingo on top of the heart-shaped table mountain. It took him and his crew 11 days to walk down off the mountain. He was immortalized when the waterfall was named after him. Auyantepui is a giant among the large plateaus. It encompasses 650 square kilometers and has a peak almost 3,000 meters high. One day I will hope to visit this great place and who knows maybe I will hide a cache there.

I am a Rover Scout as well a hiker, a tree hugging hippie and a nature lover, most of you that are lucky enough to survive some of my caches might know so already lol, geocaching has become a way of life for me that I enjoy a lot and I try to share with some of my closest friends. Hey the least muggles the better right, most of them became geocachers as well but some I am still working on lol.

Thanks for discovering me.

Discovered it at the "6/13 Flag Day Flash Mob" Event. Although we met at the "5/5 Cinco de Mayo Flash Mob", it didn't discover your name tag until today. Thanks for your patience with me during the capture the flag game, and even though we got "red carded" I had a lot of fun. Also, thanks for a great day of GeoCaching in Coral Gables today.

Discovered Auyantepuy (Travel Geocacher, person, guy, buddy) at the 6/13 Flash Mob today. He was clean, in good shape, cheerful. We decided not to pick up this "Trackable", even though he seems well-mannered. We chose not to Retrieve him, or Grab him (that's a good thing). Today, we just Discover this Trackable. He is a friend.
