Current Goal

No particular distance goals, but it might be fun to keep a running log of the different birds that are seen (or heard) as this TB migrates from cache to cache!

Sort of a "random avain inventory" eh?!

About This Item

In April the Red-winged Blackbirds are making a big racket as they stake their out their territory and build their nests for another season. They're one of my favorite birds, and I have seen them lately in my travels, in both city and field.

Agelaius is the Latin (genus) name for this bird, and I thought it would be a fitting name for a Travel Bug as it starts to journey far and wide from home!

This is sad we think that this one may have lost what it actually was at one point. Wow we couldn't believe it but on the way home we saw a Bald Eagle in a residential area we looked twice to make sure that was what we were seeing and it was couldn't get the camera out fast enough to photograph it though...

Happy New Year, and greetings from the Midwest!

Thanks to cachers "ohjoy" and "TIAG" for moving this little bug MUCH further from home!

We are expecting the first big snow of the year, here in Oak Park. I hope to get some more caches found this winter!

Found this T bug in a Michigan wetlands area cache while visiting from Olympia, WA. Will take it home and let it hear the red-winged blackbirds and Stellar jays in my backyard before placing it where it can hear other western birds. Saw a woodpecker on the long walk I took throughout the preserve.
