I lost my wife and best friend of 24 years to cancer on March 26, 2008. This travel bug is in memory to her. Charla was an Early Childhood teacher in McFarland, Wi. and loved to be around families and children laughing, playing, visiting or learning. She also enjoyed the beach and the sound of waves crashing or splashing onto it. Help her stay in motion, and maybe even stamp a few things for you. Please insure to log this trackable at Geocaching.com if you chose to move it along. Thank you.
Charla Smith, age 47, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Imperial, Neb., on Oct. 5, 1960, the daughter of Jack and Shirley Ballard. Charla graduated from UW-Stout in 1983. She married Colby Smith on April 28, 1984. Charla gave birth to twin sons, Shawn and Aaron, who were the light of her life, on Sept. 12, 1985. She earned her master's degree in early childhood education in 1997. Charla's last 10 years of teaching were spent in McFarland, where she loved the kids and they loved her. (The school also started a fund in memory of Charla, Charla's Fund, to financially help those in need of Early Childhood services.) Along with teaching she enjoyed traveling with her family. Edited 7/17/2011. After the original travel bug was taken out of circulation for quite some time, I decided it was a little too sentimental to leave out there. I have replaced that stamp with another that also reflects the "sunshine" Charla brought to the lives of many, including my own.
